Room 204 is a writer development programme created by Writing West Midlands. It runs for a year to allow talented, emerging writers in the West Midlands to network, receive support from professional writers, and develop their writing and career opportunities.
Obviously, this is an incredibly exciting opportunity for any writer. 66 writers have been enrolled on the programme since its inception in 2012 and it has been a game-changer for some of their writing careers. I feel I am certainly at a point where I need some professional intervention, otherwise I will keep self-publishing one novel a year but not get any closer to a traditional publishing contract.
You can watch my Room 204 application video below. I talk a little about my writing so far and give three reasons why Room 204 would be incredibly supportive for my writing career. I also had to provide three examples of my writing, so I submitted Munchkin, the prologue of Besti Bori and a scene from Circ.
There is nothing to do now but wait with my fingers-crossed. The successful cohort is announced in April... also the month when I turn 30 and my first baby is due. Life begins at 30!
